We are seeking a highly motivated and talented postdoctoral fellow to work in the Advanced Pediatric Brain Imaging Research Laboratory in Diagnostic Imaging & Radiology, and Fetal & Transitional Medicine, at Children’s National Medical Center, George Washington University.
The goal of our research program is to study brain development in healthy and high-risk fetal and neonatal populations, and to develop reliable clinical imaging markers that will ultimately improve detection and monitoring of the fetus at risk for brain injury.
The research project will focus on developing novel mathematical and computational modeling techniques to improve image registration and image reconstruction of anatomical and echo planar/diffusion imaging data from in vivo fetal and neonatal brain imaging studies. The project will include the design and development of improved approaches to eliminate motion, optimize MR image resolution, to enable automate brain tissue segmentation, microstructural and functional brain assessment. The research fellow will gain exposure to a wide range of clinical conditions that affect brain development through our fetal and transitional medicine program.
Candidates must have a PhD in biomedical engineering, mathematics or computer science. A strong background in neuroimaging is required.
The position is funded by the Advanced Pediatric Brain Imaging Laboratory at Children’s National for one year, renewable for a second year, and will begin over the summer of 2011. Candidates should submit a CV, list 2 references, and provide a brief statement of research interests, by email to Dr. Limperopoulos. Applications or informal inquires should be addressed to Catherine Limperopoulos, PhD ([log in to unmask]).
