Isaac carrying wood is represented in images of the sacrifice with a
typological intention, but there was no one correct way to represent the
scene in medieval Europe. The donkey does get included there sometimes,
as well, e.g. the relief panels of 1401 by Lorenzo Ghiberti and
Brunelleschi, where it looms quite large.
