Dear EATAW Members,
This is just a reminder that the upcoming conference in Limerick, as well as being an exciting opportunity for networking and intellectual stimulation, will also be the occasion for the election of the EATAW Board for the period 2011-2013.
The board, which has nine members, is responsible for ensuring the occurrence of the next conference, providing support for the host institution, providing support for the EATAW listserv, supporting other EATAW-endorsed local initiatives such as the new EATAW journal and some other minor duties (see http://www.eataw.eu/constitution/ for a full list). Being an active member of the EATAW Board is a great way to contribute to the future direction of the organisation and a great opportunity to further one's own professional development.
As always, at this year's EATAW conference a new board will be elected to lead the organisation for the next two years. The election will take place on Thursday, June 30, 2011. All those present at the conference who have been members of EATAW for one year are entitled to vote. Membership will be determined on the basis of the membership list. Those who attended the 2009 conference in Coventry who have not formally renewed their membership will be considered to be continuing members without interruption of membership.
Members of EATAW present at the conference who have been associated with the organisation for at least two years, and have presented at at least one previous conference, may stand for election to the Board. If you wish to stand for election, please submit an application stating your interest and experience in the teaching of academic writing, your association with EATAW and your reasons for standing (maximum 200 words) by midnight (GMT), Wednesday 1st June 2011, at the latest. Applications should be sent simultaneously to me, EATAW Chair ([log in to unmask]) and to the conference organisers ([log in to unmask]).
Please also send a photo of yourself with your statement.
The deadline for submission of applications to stand for election is midnight (GMT), Wednesday 1st June 2011.
Information about candidates standing will be posted on the conferencewebsite after 3rd June.
There will be an opportunity for candidates to present themselves briefly to the membership at the conference.
I look forward to receiving your application!
Best wishes,
Lisa
