Dear Matthias,
This looks like a bug in the backwards compatibility software. I shall try
to fix it. Could you send me the full error message (including the stack
trace)? If it is easy to do (and not a problem for confidentiality), could
you maybe also zip up the project (without spectra) and send it to em
direct?
Making the program recover from read errors is very hard, in general.
The problem is that invalid projects can cause errors left, right and
centre in the code. You might have to remove all kinds of data to end up
with a valid (and therefore readable) project. And what you would need to
do would be different depending on what you were reading and what the
error was. I think our resources are better spent on fixing the errors in
the first place. Speaking of which I look forward to the extra
information.
