The University invites applications for this full-time, permanent post
tenable from 1st September 2011.
You should have a doctorate in an appropriate specialism and a growing
profile of research in English Language/Linguistics, along with recent
and relevant teaching experience at degree level and a commitment to
developing best practice in learning and teaching in line with the ethos
of the Department of English. You should be able to teach a range of
modules at undergraduate level (including structures of English and
language and text/discourse analysis). The ability to teach literary
stylistics and/or corpus linguistics might be advantageous.
The appointee will join our team in the year when our first full cohort
of English Language students is expected to graduate. Ideally the
appointee will be able to teach foundational language theory including
Structures of English (syntax and phonetics), spoken and written
discourse analysis (including literary stylistics), introductory
theories on the nature of language, and also be willing to offer more
specialist modules at Levels 5 and 6.
