Ph.D. Bursaries
Two full time Ph.D. bursaries are available from October 2011 in the Centre for Regional Economic and Social Research (CRESR) at Sheffield Hallam University.
CRESR is one of the leading policy-orientated research centres in the UK, undertaking major research projects for government departments and research charities. Particular areas of expertise include regeneration and neighbourhood renewal, housing and labour markets. Successful applicants will be located alongside existing higher degree students within this thriving research environment.
The bursaries of £13,768 per annum will be payable to the successful applicants for a maximum of three years. Applicants should have a good honours degree and ideally a postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject area. Those with professional expertise in planning, regeneration, community development, community safety or housing (or a related professional area) are also welcome. While applicants can submit a proposal in an area of their choosing, applications are particularly welcome in the following areas:
> Gender and homelessness
> Energy insecurity, transition towns and multi-level policy development
> New immigration and community change
> Selective migration and the impact on deprived communities
> Understanding the potential for local giving
> The impact of the New Deal for Communities Programme
> Marine planning and offshore wind energy
> Social interaction in public spaces in deprived neighbourhoods
> Residential mobility in deprived neighbourhoods
