Postdoctoral Position - Lisbon University - Planetary Sciences
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position at the University of
Lisbon's Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics, in the framework of a
research project funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and
Technology (FCT). The starting date is 1 July 2011 or soon thereafter.
The successful candidate will work on the optimization of a GCM of the
atmosphere of Venus and on the couplings between dynamics, cloud system
and composition, and on a number of diagnostics of the atmospheric
circulation. Further tasks include an assessment of the roles of different
components of the circulation and comparison with observational results.
Applicants must have a PhD, will have experience in atmospheric modelling
and will be able to modify the existing numerical and analysis tools.
Knowledge in the analysis of spectral imaging data would be appreciated.
However, candidates with all relevant backgrounds will be considered. A
high level of written/spoken English and the ability to work as part of an
international team are required.
The position is for 18 months. At its term support will be given for grant
applications to FCT.
