Dear Francois,
Yes, I can agree with your complaint except that the logical problem of novelty has to be addressed. That is, things that are NOT new in an absolute sense can be experienced as new in a subjective or relative sense.
Even if you take the Socratic route (from lost memory to recovered memory) you still end up with the existential moment of awareness that has, as one of its discernible features, novelty.
The problems with novelty, as an experience, are another issue - an issue that haunts design.
cheers

Dear Eduardo, Keith, and List
May I add that, to begin with, there isn't out there that much differences
to be noticed after all, other than more or less fast changing
behavior/state through multiple interactions of the same humans, the same
other living beings, the same earth material, the same earth
atmosphere...And yet both those new and old dogs, playing at being God,
pretend to create things new when the more or less expert exercise is
just... new sets of the same old tricks!
So, demagogy = convincing old - and new - dogs that the tricks are new, when
everyone knows quite well there, in reality, is nothing new on earth. Just
magic in black box...that has been Design and Design teaching thus far.
Perhaps it is high time to move on another paradigm for Design and
corresponding Design teaching approach other than pedagogy, andragogy, or
demagogy.
And what about the Tao* of Design?
