Hello,
Mind is seeking examples of people who have mental health difficulties and are being refused accommodation under section 21 of the National Assistance Act 1948 or the Mental Health Act section 117 after-care. We would like to get a better understanding of whether it is a common problem that local authorities are refusing support to people on the basis that the services they are assessed to need do not amount to care and attention and/or because the services they need can be provided outside the accommodation they live in/or would live in (if they were not homeless).
I would be very grateful if you could circulate this request through your networks and let me know if you have any cases that fit this description. The cases can be anonymised. I’m afraid our deadline is quite tight so it would be great if you could respond by the end of next week, if possible.
Thanks so much
Sile
