STEP (Science and Technology in the European Periphery)
http://www.uoa.gr/step
STEP is an international network of scholars committed to the
historical study of science, technology, and medicine in contexts
traditionally regarded as peripheral.
It was established in 1999 and gathers members from twelve countries
in Europe, and several countries in Latin America, North America and Asia.
STEP seeks to rethink the historiographical canon of science,
technology and medicine – in particular, its characteristic focus on a
limited number of national contexts.
STEP promotes research across other geographical and cultural
contexts, generating new questions, themes and tools of analysis, with
the aim of improving our historical understanding of the role of
science, technology, and medicine in the emergence of modern
techno-scientific societies.
