There is an interesting article in the US Library Journal ( http://bit.ly/gjed4B ) about Overdrive hiking their admin charges in Kansas.
Kansas currently pay $10,000 P/A. My authority has just been quoted £10,000 P/A by Overdrive, of which £3,000 would be spent on books, leaving an admin charge of £7,000.
My authority population c180,000, Kansas population 2,853,116. The state librarian in Kansas is objecting because by 2015 the increased admin charge would work out at £200 per branch, our quote for 2011 works out at over £430 per branch.
I'm interested to know whether UK authorities who have subscribed to Overdrive for some time are paying anything comparable to our quote, or anything comparable to Kansas' current charge.
The Kansas state librarian regarded the new prices as unacceptable, if they paid them they would have no money to spend on content.
