wow, just went to that web page and wish I'd known about that software a long time ago! As an old gis and illustrator user it sounds like it is perfect for making that final map from gis files. Are there any quirks worth knowing about?

We at the Geological Survey use MapPublisher for loss-free data
conversion either way between ESRI ArcGIS and Adobe Illustrator for
the production of the printed geological maps.
