Hi Mark,
Did anyone ever reply to you ?
I can see they didn't through the mailing list !
If not, either the data is going into the database and just isn't being displayed, or the data isn't making it into the database to start with.
The first case could be file permissions on the actual files on the web server. Linux servers especially (but on others too) get really fussy about permissions and are often set to fairly draconian levels too, often limiting even read permissions to file owner only. WebPA makes lots of use of included files displayed one inside the other, so it might be one page that hasn't got the necessary permission level to display being shown inside of another that does etc ... I always check permissions when I upload a new file / an altered one.
The second case would almost certainly be database permissions. I had something similar a while ago when someone moved the database onto another virtual server and while they played with the DNS records to point the traffic in the right direction, they didn't set the permissions right on the new location.
In both cases (try the first case first as you are fairly happy with the database permissions), try opening up the permissions completely and trying again. If it works, which I'd guess it will, then try tightening it up again.
You probably fixed this ages ago didn't you and I've just typed all this for nothing !? :-)

Subject: request for help with new WebPA installation, re. uploading data
Hi,
I hope you can help me.
I am trying to upload some student data, in the form of CSV file, to my
recently installed WebPA server. The file looks like this (it's just
dummy data):
SHEFD,foo,bar,[log in to unmask],ACP123,COM3001,COM,COMT06,t131fgcom3005
SHEFD,ying,yang,[log in to unmask],ACP456,COM3001,COM,COMT123,i525tycom3005
SHEFD,bing,bong,[log in to unmask],ACP789,COM3001,COM,COMT123,a186alcom300
I go to Admin -> admin home -> upload, then select the data file, and
tick "student data" radio button. It claims to upload it successfully,
but when you go to look at the uploaded data, nothing is displayed
(apart from a horizontal blue line)
The only error I could find which looked like it might have something to
do with it is:
[Mon Mar 07 14:09:08 2011] [error] [client x.x.x.x] PHP Notice:
Undefined offset: 3 in /var/www/html/webpa/admin/index.php on line 69,
referer: http://webpa.dcs.shef.ac.uk/admin/review/student/index.php
I think the database permissions are OK. I've got a user 'webpaadmin'
which has access to select, insert, update, delete, etc. I would have
expected an error message (I suppose?) should the permissions not have
been correct.
Please advise what I can do next, or if you require any further
information.
Thanks,
Mark
