As libraries in the UK face increasing threats of cuts and closure, this is an ideal opportunity to learn more about the developments that face professional colleagues working in India, Pakistan and Nigeria. Join us to hear more about the experiences of the three Middlesex Commonwealth Fellows, to share professional expertise and to help colleagues working abroad build a network of professional contacts.
Dr Sunil Goria, Muhammad Farooq and Titlayo Ilesanni will be talking about their experiences of working in India, Pakistan and Nigeria why they applied for a Commonwealth Fellowship and what they have achieved during their visit to the UK.
The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the United Kingdom (CSC) supports fellowships for mid-career professionals from developing Commonwealth
countries to spend periods within the UK. Middlesex University plays host to a number of Fellows on an Annual basis.
Dr Sunil Goria of G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, India is currently Assistant Librarian, working on ICT applications in the university library. key projects include the development of a Digital Library, Web site and web-based services.
Mr Muhammad Farooq is currently Director of the Information Services Department of Riphah International University, Islamabad, Pakistan and has a specific interest in information technology issues.
Mrs Titilayo Ilesanmi is Library Associate at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, Ibadan, Nigeria. She recently represented Nigeria at the 2nd IAALD Africa Chapter Conference, in Accra, Ghana (International Association of Agricultural Librarians and Documentalists). On her return she hopes to take up a new post at an agricultural university.
This is an opportunity to hear more about their experiences, to share professional expertise and to help colleagues working abroad build a network of professional contacts. ILIG Informals are not lectures; they are informal, but informative, early evening meetings with a short talk on a theme of international interest plus
plenty of time for questions and networking. They are open to all and absolutely free. Light refreshments are served which is why we ask you to let us
