Egypt: Country Director
Africa and Middle East Refugee Assistance (AMERA)
Africa and Middle East Refugee Assistance (AMERA) is seeking a dynamic
human rights professional to lead its refugee rights program in Cairo,
Egypt. The Country Director will provide overall strategic leadership
for the organisation in Egypt.
Responsibilities
* Provide strategic direction and leadership of AMERA – Egypt
* Represent the organisation in public forums and in relation to
national and international institutions
* Manage, oversee and develop staff
* Ensure the highest standards of client case management
* Oversee institutional and financial management
* Oversee implementation of policies and plans as approved by the Board
* Fundraising and resource mobilization both domestic and
international in coordination with AMERA UK
* Assist with the creation of an Egyptian Board and oversees the
Egyptian registration process.
Qualifications
* Commitment to the mission and values of AMERA;
* Experience in working for refugees and asylum seekers
* Demonstrable knowledge of legal and social refugee protection
issues in Egypt and/or in the region
* Experience of managing a diverse staff base;
* Work experience in NGO/civil society sector.
* Ability to provide leadership whilst also being a team worker
* Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
* Demonstrable organisational and planning skills;
* Experience in fundraising, donor liaison, budget planning,
forecasting and management
* Strong human relations skills (both in relation to the external
partners and in relation to staff)
* Knowledge of human rights law and experience in human rights advocacy
* Excellent communication skills
* Relevant degree or equivalent from accredited university (equivalent
experience will be considered)
* Fluent spoken and written Arabic and English
