It wasn't completely clear to me on a first scan of the paper, but I
think they mean that they first calculated SPM first-level analysis to
get the beta (parameter estimate) images, and then used marsbar to get
the (mean of the beta values within the ROI voxels) for each beta
image of interest. I hope I read it correctly.
