Thank you for the response! Guillaume suggested I use spm_summarise instead and the function worked just fine for what I needed to do. I will definitely keep your advice in mind when using the Volumes Toolbox in the future.

Dear Vy Dinh,
apologies for not answering earlier. I must have missed this question.
In SPM8, the output of the extraction is kept in the batch system. To
access it, you can use one of the BasicIO modules "Pass Output to
Workspace" or "Save variables to .mat file".
