Just a quick update on this.
Had contact with the Recommender dev team last week, they recognised there was an issue and have resolved it (though I don't actually have any info on what the issue was yet).
So now our feed has successfully been imported: http://www.folksemantic.com/feeds/1047364967

So, some potential extra exposure for people's OERs for very little effort. Would be interesting to see if they have stats on how many pages their widget is embedded in.
Now just need a method to embed the javascript app easily and safely in our wiki pages.

Am currently writing this up for a blog post, but yes, we're (Bioscience) currently investigating their Recommender widget, as I've probably mentioned at a couple of previous meetings.
I've also been working with Pat over the last day to update the Xpert service to provide a full RSS feed of the bioukoer-tagged records we have in there (as the default Xpert RSS will only provide the latest 25 records), which we can then use as a source for the OER Recommender to index.
I provided the Recommender with a feed yesterday afternoon, and nothing has yet appeared, but I'm giving it a bit more time at the moment.
We have a couple of issues with the widget, in that you have very little control over the resources it recommends, you simply point it at a URL and it uses data on the page to provide resources it thinks are relevant, and it can be fairly hit and miss, though there's a good argument for the serendipitous* nature of the widget there <nods at Rob>, and also as it's javascript-based we cannot embed it in our Wordpress-hosted blog (due to their clampdown/potential security issues), nor currently our wiki or (at least I can't) embed it in our aspx-based webpages.
That said, I think it would be very useful for all of the OER projects to submit their resources to the Recommender for the added exposure, and thanks to Pat's sterling work yesterday, using the "RSS feed (all items) for this result" it should now be possible for most projects to give the OER Recommender a complete feed based on a keyword (sfsoer, engscoer, geesoer, csapoer etc) from Xpert.
It might be worth holding off slightly until I've had confirmation that the Recommender system has absorbed all of our content, and I'll report back here asap.
