Hi everyone,
I might be a bit off-topic here my apologies. But a few Australians have
contacted me and asked me to expand the list of
laboratories/initiatives/organisations that supports
interdisciplinary/experimental practice beyond the Inter-Arts Office of
the Australia Council, to give a broader Australian snapshot. This list
is by no means complete (and it changes all the time - so feedback
appreciated) - but here are some other examples of the networks,
organizations and festivals that support this kind of work:

>> Hi everyone,
>> Have been reading about the posts on labs and thought I would just
>> throw in some Australian examples. There may be other Australians on
>> this list who could elaborate in more detail.
>> We have found here in Australia that interdisciplinary labs, which
>> integrates the use of technology in the workshops, have been
>> incredibly important for new arts practices to emerge. One of the
>> earliest models is a lab called Time_Place_Space, which ran for six
>> years.

>> We also fund large collaborative projects through our ArtLab
>> initiative. Some of the examples of the projects supported there are:
>> 1. The WIRED Lab - http://wiredlab.org/ 2. Darker Edge of Night -

>> 4. Emergency Remnant ArtLab - http://www.remnantartlab.com/ 5. The

>>
>> Recently we also funded two other lab projects:
>> 1. the first exploring virtual reality art (Australian centre of
>> Virtual Arts
>> Lab) http://www.acva.net.au/
>> 2. the second engaging young and emerging artists in a very large
>> Music festival setting - with some great projects funded by the Music
festival.
