Electronic Spectroscopy and Dynamics GRC: July 22 - 27, 2012: First Announcement
Dear Colleague,
The Gordon Research Conference on Electronic Spectroscopy and Dynamics—one of the longest running GRCs—will meet in 2012 from July 22 to 27 at Bates College, Maine, USA. We are writing to ask you to mark the date on your calendars and to solicit your input for possible session topics, discussion leaders, and invited speakers. In your view, what breakthrough experimental and theoretical techniques are pushing the field forward in exciting new directions? You can send your suggestions to either of the co-Chairs at the e-mail addresses below.
In the 1960s and 1970s, this conference was devoted to gas-phase molecular electronic spectroscopy, but the focus has broadened to include the most recent experimental and theoretical research on the electronic (structural and dynamical) properties of isolated molecules in the gas phase, of molecules embedded in condensed phases, and of extended structures such as clusters, polymers, nanoparticles, biomolecules and semiconductors.
Recent conferences have featured sessions on electronic processes in the condensed phase, on ultrafast electronic dynamics, on electronic spectroscopy of biological molecules, on photodissociation and photoionization dynamics, on single-molecule spectroscopy, on the electronic spectra of nanoparticles, on cold molecules, on metrology and fundamental physics. The field is livelier than ever and the conference inspires all scientists interested in electronic structure and electronic dynamics in all states of matter.
We look forward to seeing you at Bates College in July 2012.
