Research Fellow in Evidence Synthesis/Systematic Review, Third Gap Research Group, Peninsula Medical School, University of Exeter.
Appointment: Fixed-term for 18 months Salary: £31,798 FTE: 1.0
We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow with an interest in evidence synthesis. The post holder will carry out a systematic search of the major biomedical and nursing databases from 1990 onwards; synthesise the quantitative and qualitative evidence using a narrative synthesis approach; and conduct two stakeholder workshops to help ensure that the synthesis is a guide to action and of benefit to patients. http://www.pcmd.ac.uk/jobs.php?id=393
You will be educated to degree level and also have a PhD in a relevant subject (health services research, sociology, psychology, public health) or evidence of PhD level research outputs, and have a record of research publications in peer-reviewed journals. Knowledge and experience of undertaking systematic review and synthesis of quantitative research is essential.
This post is funded by the NIHR Research for Patient Benefit programme and is part of the project entitled 'Diabetes self management strategies for long-term biomedical outcomes and quality of life: a synthesis of longitudinal quantitative and qualitative research'.
The Peninsula Medical School is widely regarded as the strongest of the new medical schools in the UK. It has established an excellent reputation for high quality educational programmes and research. http://www.pcmd.ac.uk/
This post will be located within the Third Gap research group. The Third Gap research programme aims to address the 'third gap in translation' which is the way in which evidence based treatments and management strategies are used - or not - in patients' everyday life worlds. http://www.pcmd.ac.uk/research/index.php?group=17
The post will be based in Exeter and will be a University of Exeter appointment. Applicants wishing to work part-time will be considered.
