Notice of 2 year Research Associate post at King's College London
Applications are invited for a Research Associate post in the Diabetes and Nutritional Sciences Division (Waterloo campus) to work on a research project funded by Crohn's and Colitis UK. This is a full-time 2-year fixed term post (grade band 6 + LA).
The aim of the project is to investigate the meanings of food and nutrition in the lives of people with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and then to use this information to develop a validated questionnaire to measure food-related quality of life in the lives of people with IBD and to increase awareness of these impacts among health professionals. The researcher will be part of a multi-disciplinary team led by Dr Kevin Whelan, with Prof Myfanwy Morgan (social science), Dr Alyis Salma (statistician), Dr Miranda Lomer (dietitian), and Dr James Lindsay (gastroenterology). The research involves both qualitative and quantitative methods, including semi-structured interviews with patients followed by the development and validation of a questionnaire to assess psychosocial impacts.
The post provides an exciting opportunity to develop an important area of work that focuses on patient experiences. Where relevant there may be the opportunity to register for a higher degree (eg. MPhil or PhD).
For an informal discussion regarding this position, please contact Dr Kevin Whelan ([log in to unmask]). Further details are available on the King's website at
