**The Editors of Adaptation <http://www.oxfordjournals.org/page/4154/1> invite you to submit your article to its first Essay Prize competition <http://www.oxfordjournals.org/page/4155/1>.**
The competition is a new innovation from the journal, launched to encourage the best new scholarship in the field. While the journal publishes many articles which focus on the relationship between literature and film, the Editors are particularly keen to publish work which challenges the primacy of that relationship: this might include essays on computer games, opera, popular music, animation, genre fiction, or work with a wider theoretical sweep.
The winning article will be published in the journal and the winner will receive a cash prize of £50.00 in addition to a year's free print and online subscription.
**How to Submit**
Articles should be no more than 4,000 words and should be submitted via the online submission system <http://www.oxfordjournals.org/page/4156/1>.
*The closing date for entries is 1 April 2011.*
