Dear all,
Marco Bruni - Wednesday 2/3/11 4.30pm - Maths 103 QMUL
Tomorrow's QMUL Relativity and Cosmology seminar will take place in
the usual room, Room 103 of the Maths Building on
the Mile End Campus. The speaker this week is Dr Marco Bruni of the
University of Portsmouth who will be talking about "Exact non-linear
inhomogeneities in LambdaCDM cosmology". The abstract is below.
The seminar will take place at the usual time of 4.30pm. As usual we
plan to go for a drink with the speaker and onwards to dinner after
the seminar.
For directions to the building and a list of upcoming
seminars please go to our wiki site at http://cosrel.maths.qmul.ac.uk .
The School of Mathematical Sciences is undertaking a major
refurbishment programme that will radically change the design to our
building both externally and internally. During the reconstruction, we
regret that access to the building will be limited. If this could
impact upon your intention to attend a seminar, please contact Bill
White on 0207 882 5514 or email to [log in to unmask] to discuss your
particular requirements.
Best wishes,
Ian

Exact non-linear inhomogeneities in LambdaCDM cosmology
Marco Bruni
I describe some progress made on Szkekers models with a cosmological
constant, reformulated a-la Goode and Weinwright, which allow us to
describe these inhomogeneous spacetimes as exact non-linear deviations
from a $\Lambda$CDM background. The deviation however doesn't need to
average to zero, hence the FLRW background doesn't necessarily
represents an average. I will briefly discuss how this model can be
used to investigate a number of open questions in cosmology in a
simple idealized context.
