Technology is changing the way we encounter, and value, 'moments' in
film. Is sustained attention to short sequences and single shots a
fetish or a founding scholarly principle? This event aims to
investigate the rewards and challenges of thinking about films in
close detail as well as the significance of the 'moment' to the way we
appreciate film in the 21st century.,
Leading cinema scholars present a series of precise readings of film
moments, followed by an open discussion concerning the role of close
analysis in various strands of contemporary film scholarship., The
event also marks the publication of Film Moments: Criticism,
History, Theory, edited by Tom Brown and James Walters.,
