Dear All,
Is there a recommended maximum length for digital file titles?
I ask as we are about to digitise some microfilms, so I am in the position of choosing what the digital file titles contain. We obviously want to be able to preserve the digital data and I am aware that long file titles can make it difficult to migrate data. However I am not sure how long I can make the file titles before causing problems.
Also are there certain characters that should be avoided in digital file titles?
If anyone can give or point me to advice on file naming conventions that would be much appreciated.
With Many Thanks,
Debbie.
