Joseph,
As I said before, I am preparing a paper to JOSS and some other
journals, just exploring and explaining the methodology I work with.
As it is very new, I am still working on the text, adjusting some
methodology steps.
I am still interested in sharing the research with some other
colleagues at other countries, trying to develop similar urban
simulation at other cities, always involving 3 perspectives:
[urban effectiveness(*)]= [urban configuration + urban use]
where,..
urban effectiveness = 'urbanidade', a Brazilian term, related to am
equilibrium of urban configuration (space syntax) and urban use (land
use occupation: density, social and environmental implications, so
on...)
By a transportation engineering view, the traditional urban use
approach has been related to traffic and its mobility, focusing on
'demand' of the system. With this approach, many investigations have
been worried about car use, cities designed to its scale.
By an Architecture and Urbanism view, the traditional approach has
been related to static representation and understanding of cities
growth (physical, social, economic, cultural relations). In other
words, related to '
In fact I think both are very important and complementary, just like
an urban equation, which can be analysed depending on specific scale:
macro (cities), meso (cities subareas) and microscopic (streets,
blocks) approach.
This 'view' I defend, is just a contribution to 'spare' the urban
'fabric' into two main parts: urban production (configuration) and
urban consumption (use).
More information and details I ask you to read my work, still in portuguese,..
