The link I found said it was RDFa, that'll teach me to trust google

Look at the linkedIn result
The grey stuff underneath is RDFa, how applicable that is I don’t know directly.
It certainly makes that like notable, in the visual sense, and notable in the quality sense.

To which the follow-up Q must be: is it worth my while taking the trouble to put DC metadata into web pages in RDF (or whatever)? The discussion so far, which has been very interesting (really), seems to indicate that the answer is 'no', or at best 'not yet'. Pat, you mention that Google uses RDF for searching - how? The links you quoted are handy on how to set up and validate RDF, but don't indicate how Google uses such data.
Whilst it's no big setting up a small site, as I'm doing now, with RDF/DC metadata in page headers, it would be a serious undertaking on a larger site. I'll do it if it's worthwhile in terms of OER discovery by ordinary punters via simple Google searches, or maybe via OER search engines, but otherwise I might skip it for the now.
Cheers
Fred
