I am currently thinning my collection of reference material. Does anyone want any of the following?
1. Hamilton-Jenkin, A. K. 1981. Mines of Devon - North and East of Dartmoor. (Exeter: Devon Library Services). (Those were the golden days of libraries!!)
2. A. M. Hernandez Sobrino. 1984. Estructura y genesis de los yacimentos de mercurio de la zona de Almaden. (Salamanca: Minas de Almaden y Arrayanes S.A.). 64 page A5 book (in Spanish) on Almaden with black and white maps and diagrams. It is not a history of this illustrious or infamous deposit.
3. Ortega, E. 1986. Geology and metallogeny of the Almaden area, centro-Iberian zone, Spain.24 A4 pages (in English) of paper delivered at the 2nd European Workshop on Remote Sensing, Brussels.
4. Societe Miniere D'Anglade. No date. 24 page technical brochure (in French) on the discovery, development and exploitation of the Salau scheelite-skarn tungsten deposit in the Pyrenees near the Spanish border. Picked up on a visit in 1973. Some colour photos and illustrations.
5. Derre, C., Fonteilles, M. and Nansot, L. Y. No date. Le gisement de scheelite de Salau, Ariege-Pyrenees. Societe Miniere d'Anglade. ISBN 2-903201-09-9. 42 page technical description of this scheelite-skarn deposit. Picked up on a visit in 1973.
As both the Almaden and Salau mines have closed I hope these publications might legitimately be classed as mining history! Too good to throw away.
Please let me know if youare interested or forward to any continental contacts.
