Dear colleagues
you have already been a great help to me in tracing the 18th-century mining activities of Chauncy Townsend (a London merchant) in Wales; now I am trying to find out how active he was in Cornwall. Townsend apparently operated a tin mine "at Cleggor, in the parish of Perran Zabulo". This source distinguished this mine from a nearby mine at "Cleggor Cliffs". I suspect that these are mines at Cligga Head. Does any one have any information about either of these 18th-century mines? When I google 'Cleggor' all I get are references to Nick Clegg!
Yours Richard VandeWetering
