Dear All,

may I kindly drawn your attention to a call for papers: 'Special edition on the Paralympics and Disability Sport' to be published in 'Qualitative Research in Sport, Exercise, & Health'.

This special edition, in conjunction with the Peter Harrison Centre for Disability Sport at Loughborough University, seeks to bring together voices from sociology, sport policy, sport philosophy, and sport and health psychology research on issues relating to the Paralympics and Disability Sport. Qualitative papers concerned with opening up new theoretical, empirical, and/or methodological understandings of the Paralympics and Disability Sport are welcomed.

Submission Process

All submissions should be a maximum of 8,000 words including references. All papers will be subject to blind review by a minimum of two referees. Neither acceptance nor place in the special edition is guaranteed. If necessary the special edition will run over two QRSE issues. All submissions should be made online at the Qualitative Research in Sport, Exercise, and Health ScholarOne Manuscripts site (http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/RQRS).

The deadlines for submission are as follows.
Full papers submitted for review August, 2011.
Final papers submitted to editor January 15th, 2012
Final copy to Routledge March 15th, 2012.
Intended Publication Date July 2012

Dear All

Fyi

Colin

Dear all,

Thank you for letting us all know about your forthcoming books. In the spirit of information sharing I would like share a link with you all. This is from the UK from an event that happened on Saturday 12th Febuary. It features Activist comedian Liz Carr talking about the effects of the austerity cuts on disability rights and benefits in the UK- although many of the points apply more broadly. We are hoping to write a book about it all, but currently do not have the time. Please have a look and listen

Subject: RE: my new book

Dear colleagues. I hope it is OK to let you know that my book Social Policy and Social Capital: Parents and Exceptionality 1974-2007 is published by NOVA Science publ. in New York. I hope it can contribute to the field and our understanding of parents of disabled children in the shifting world of social policy - well beyond my native country, Iceland. Please have a look and if you think you can help getting it reviewed I would be grateful. Iceland with its highly modern society and its tiny population can be seen as a laboratory for carrying out this kind of research. As a parent myself and as a professor in disability studies and inclusive education I put my best into this book.
Greetings. Dóra

Dear Editorial Board Member

Due to recent hospitalisation and further hospital treatment in the future I have now decided to withdraw from all academic work.

This has not been an easy decision but as my family and friends all agree it is a necessary one.

I would like to thank you all for the wonderful opportunity of working with you over the years on the journal and for your great work in its development and current status. Michele Moore will now take over the Editorship and I have every confidence that she will be able to take forward the journal into the future. She has been a reliable member of both the Board and the Executive Editors over many years.

Thank you for all your support and I wish you all success for the future.

The development of this journal has been a real learning experience and it would not have been possible without the wonderful support and passionate interest in the journal by our administrator Helen. She has been a joy to work with and will continue to support the journal in the future.

Best wishes.
Len Barton

Because Len is still recovering please do not try to contact him directly. If you wish to contact Len, please do so via email through Helen at [log in to unmask] Thanks Helen O.

Dear All

Information about the recent meeting of Disability People Against Cuts February 12th meeting can be found at the following website sent to me by Richard Rieser.

http://www.dpac.uk.net/2011/02/video-dpac-workshop-at-people%E2%80%99s-convention-12th-feb-2011/

It's important that if you can get to London on the 26th be there.

>

>
>
>
>
>
>
