A faculty position is available for laser-based spectroscopic diagnostics in combustion study in Combustion and Flame group at USTC. The group has been developing synchrotron VUV photoionization mass spectrometry in applications of combustion study including pyrolysis, oxidation and flame. The “nonintrusive” optical spectroscopic techniques are now highly desired as complementarities for detecting small reactive species (OH, CH, NO, C2, etc.) and flame temperature measurement.
The successful candidate for this position will have demonstrated: (1) a PhD in laser spectroscopy, physical chemistry or other related field; (2) substantial expertise in some of the following areas: laser-induced fluorescence, cavity ring-down spectroscopy, coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy, tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy, laser-induced incandescence, chemical reaction kinetics etc.; (3) strong ability to develop or apply new laser spectroscopic techniques; and (4) a strong publication record and good presentation and communication skills. Previous experiences on mass spectrometer, flame instrumentation and vacuum system are desired, but not necessary. The rank of the position will depend on his or her background.
Candidates are expected to send a C.V. and publication list and to arrange three recommendation letters to Professor Fei Qi.
