I can see that, and the flat images are indeed pretty impressive.... but Reina Sofia without Gernika? Also, am I missing something, or does there appear to not be a master search across all collections?

That was my first thought, but it does get better if you find your way out of Streetview-in-a-room mode and into the list of artworks/artists where the properly flat digitised images are accessible.
Disappointingly, I can't yet see a way to navigate by artists or style rather than by venue/collection.
