Generating Income from Digital Assets - ideal when we all need to think
creatively about budgets
On 23 February there is:
The value of intellectual property: Protecting and making money from digital
assets
This practical course provides an overview of the specific types of
Intellectual Property Rights, as well as other cultural assets which might
be monetised. You will be introduced to the issues you will need to embrace
when considering the monetisation of your assets, such as business planning,
cost/benefit considerations and market-take up. We will also examine the
role of licences, how the internet and other digital technology can support
various business models and how to protect assets from unauthorised uses.
The course is being run by Naomi Korn Copyright Consultancy. Over the last
10 years, Naomi has helped a number of organisations to embed IP policies,
manage and organise their rights, assess their risks, develop accessible
toolkits to handle compliance issues and the exploitation of their rights.
By the end of the day Naomi will have guided you through the:
o Types of Intellectual Property Rights and other cultural assets
which can be exploited
o Importance of making cost/benefit considerations
o Importance of good copyright practice
o How the digital environment might support various business models
o Importance of protecting assets in this context
o Legal requirements of Intellectual Property Rights
Using case studies from across the cultural heritage sector and her own
extensive experience. You'll come out of the day with a better
understanding of your own requirements and the confidence to implement your
learning back at base.
Cost: £135 plus VAT including all course materials, refreshments and 3
months post-course support.
Venue: The Jewish Museum, Raymond Burton House, 129-131 Albert St, Camden
Town, NW1 7NB
Recent participants in Naomi's courses for Creating Capacity have said,
'The course raised (and answered) some new questions which I hadn't even
thought about which is great' and 'Fantastically practical, with an example
led focus which was really helpful'
If this course isn't for you, do look have a look at what else is planned
for this month in our website. Interested? Then book online or call me on
07985 659425 for more information.
If you would like to develop the team in a way that's really focused on your
organisation's needs then consider our in-house training packages too. It's
worth considering as a practical alternative when training, travel and
subsistence budgets are reduced.

Lucy Auger
