I am part of a group from the library department at Canterbury Christ Church University that is presently undertaking a review of our scanning service. We are looking to gather information regarding how this service is organised and supported by other library services.
I would be grateful if you could forward any information regarding the following areas:
Is the service supported by a specialist team? If not how is the service supported?
How many FTE number of staff support this service?
How long has your service been running and what growth in demand have you seen?
Do you use online web forms for submission of applications?
Is your scanning completed in-house or do you utilise an external service provider eg British Library (HESS) or Heron?
How is this service financed? Are internal departments recharged?
Do you deal with copyright cleared digitised articles?
