Dear colleagues
I guess we are all struggling just now, given the current situation at BLDSC. However Edinburgh University Library is now daily receiving about 80 ILL requests from external libraries. We are obviously doing everything we can to supply with a minimum of delay, but our priority has to be securing material for our own readers.
It has to be said that some libraries (library systems?) appear to be very quick to send Chasers. It is obviously frustrating for your readers who are waiting for material. However on the flip side, a great deal of time can be wasted by lending libraries investigating Chasers, only to find that the material was sent out several days earlier. Could I therefore make a plea to people to adjust their Chaser dates. As a rule, Edinburgh does not chase until after a fortnight has elapsed (unless there is a specific urgency)
Sorry to be a moaning minnie, but my colleagues here feel as if they are on a treadmill just now.
Have a good weekend
Best wishes
