Hello Dot,
we are using fedora commons for XML representations of our data objects.
This is done in a quite basic (but fast) way and of course we use the
saxon xslt processor which is installed with fedora by default. As you
know, there is a service for simple image manipulation, too.
These services offer parametrisable views on different types of under-
lying data objects. You can use additional specialised services for any
kind of data object to generate appropriate representations which can be
used by any sort of client software. (I think there should be some
"nearly"s in this sentence. ;) )
So, I think it is not necessary to look for some software that can be
used parallel to fedora commons. In stead of this in my opinion it
should be possible to store advanced imaging data as fedora data objects
and to integrate necessary processing in fedora's dissemination process.
Hope this help. :)
Regards,
Fabian.
