I am currently in the process of digitising photographic material of the personal papers of Maurice Wilkins as part of the Wellcome Trust funded project, "DNA and Social Responsibility". The collection includes 300 mounted slides and the same number of acetate x-ray negatives that will soon be refrigerate to slow deterioration. I was wondering if anyone on the list has had experience scanning 35 mm slides and whether they have overcome the specific problem of image blurring. I'm currently scanning the images, one at a time on an Epsom Expression 10000xl, set to positive film at 400rp 48bit colour. Is there a way to increase the quality of the image without extensive picture editing with photoshop?
Secondly, does anyone have experience scanning x-ray film?
Any advice will be welcome.
Many thanks,
Chris Olver
