MEB’s academic biostatistics group is the largest of its kind in Sweden and among the largest in the Nordic countries. At present the group comprises of approximately 30 people, including 3 full professors and 8 PhD- and 4 MSc-level research-biostatisticians, and 7 doctoral students, and we are continually recruiting more postdoc-level researchers. The group is involved in theoretical and applied biostatistics research, especially in the areas of statistical genetics, bioinformatics and registry-based epidemiologic modelling. Collaboration with medical researchers is especially strong, because, instead being a separate unit, the group is fully integrated in the open research environment in Department. The biostatisticians are also closely involved in teaching and supervision of graduate students in epidemiology.
