ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN (MATERNITY COVER)
An Assistant Librarian is required for one year from the end of March 2011 to replace a member of staff on maternity leave. Duties will include the supervision of periodicals, standing orders and exchanges; cataloguing all new periodicals, downloading and editing records and some original cataloguing of books; acting as Deputy Reading Room Librarian; attending to books, periodicals and pamphlets for binding; supervising the bookshelvers and preparing a monthly payroll report; assisting with book selection and pressmarking.
Knowledge of at least one modern European language is highly desirable, as is an interest in the subject areas served by the Library.
Candidates should be able to work effectively independently and as part of a small team, and will be expected to undertake occasional other duties in the absence of colleagues.
The appointment will be to Level 6 (Administration, Management and Professional), point 24, which is currently £27,135 p.a. including London Allowance.
