RSP are delighted to announce our latest event: Supporting and Influencing the deposit of E-Theses in Higher Education,
28th March 2011, British Library Conference Centre, London
This half day event will focus on the findings of two recent and complementary research projects funded by the JISC: “Influencing the deposit of E-Theses in Higher Education” undertaken by University College London (UCL) and a study by the British Library: “Gathering evidence of the benefits of increased visibility and impact of open access theses”; which evaluated the impact of the ‘Electronic Theses Online Service (EThOS).
The aim of the UCL study was to capture a snapshot of the current and planned electronic theses deposit policies and practices and to identify the main barriers to the electronic deposit of e-theses. EThOS aims to give access to all theses from participating institutions whether paper based or electronic. It achieves this by harvesting e-theses from Institutional Repositories and by digitising paper based theses as they are ordered by researchers using the system.
