Research Assistant - Into the Future: Sustainable Access to the National Review of Live Art Digital Archive (vacancy ref. 15987)
Based in the Department of Drama: Theatre, Film, Television, you will play a crucial role in a complex team on this exciting project.
Contributing to the research into and development of innovative user interfaces, you will work across disciplinary boundaries between performance studies, archives and digital technologies. You will have key responsibility for developing, communicating and supplying complex datasets to relevant individuals in the Institute for Learning and Research Technology (ILRT) and High Performance Computing (HPC) within the University and be responsible for developing and implementing sustainable procedures and systems in order to digitally preserve the National Review of Live Art festival (NRLA) audio-visual archive. You will have experience of handling complex technical and descriptive metadata, digital data for moving image projects, as well as practical experience of moving-image editing, including authoring and quality assurance. You will possess a demonstrable knowledge of web 2.0 technologies.
In addition to having excellent interpersonal skills which will enable you to work closely and liaise with a wide range of people across the arts and sciences, you must be able to work on your own initiative. An interest/awareness of current Performance/Live Art practice and/or Digital Arts would be an advantage.
This full-time post is offered on a fixed-term contract until 30 September 2011.
