RESEARCH ASSOCIATE IN STATISTICAL GENETICS

Applications are invited for a Research Associate in Statistical
Genetics to work on projects making use of the latest in High-
Throughput Sequencing and microarray technology.
You will provide support for Centre staff in the design and analysis
of studies involving bioinformatics and statistical genetics
principally of High-Throughput Sequencing, and genotype data and other
kinds of data including that from functional genomics.
You will have a doctorate in statistical genetics, statistics,
mathematics, computer sciences or another science with a significant
quantitative component. You will also have an understanding of modern
statistical approaches and preferably an ability to apply these within
the Bioinformatics and Statistical Genetics context. Knowledge of High-
Throughput Sequencing data and technology would be an advantage. You
will be part of the Bioinformatics and Statistical Genetics Core that
provides support to the researchers at the Wellcome Trust Centre for
Human Genetics. In this context you will have the opportunity to be
exposed to a broad range of techniques and data types such as exome
sequence analysis in collaboration with Statistical Geneticists,
Bioinformaticians, Scientists and Clinicians. You will be able to
demonstrate the ability to use your own initiative and work both
independently and as part of a team.
You will be based at The Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics,
Roosevelt Drive, Headington, Oxford, OX3 7BN. The post is funded by
The Wellcome Trust and is available for 5 years in the first instance.
