The Department of Astronomy at Stockholm University announces a tenured
position as Senior Lecturer in Astronomy in the area of Extragalactic/High
Energy Astrophysics, with the possibili ty of applying for promotion to
full professor at a later stage. We cover a broad range of research areas,
such as solar physics, star formation, supernovae, galaxies, and the early
Universe. The Swedish memberships in ESO and ESA allow access to
first-class observing facilities. This position is made available in
collaboration with the Oskar Klein Center (OKC), an excellence center at
Stockholm University covering astro- and particle physics. This new
position should strengthen the OKC activities in astrophysics. We are
interested in candidates working in one or more of the following areas:
physics of supernovae, gamma-ray bursts, active galactic nuclei, compact
objects, and the formation and evolution of galaxies and large-scale
structure of the Universe. The main tasks of the appointee will be research,
teaching and supervision of students. To qualify the applicant should have
a PhD or equivalent scientific qualifications, as well as demonstrated
teaching proficiency. In the evaluation equal and special weight will be
given to scientific and teaching qualities. Some weight will also be given
to experience with public outreach. Fluency in Swedish is not a
requirement. Stockholm University strives towards gender balance and
