One of the things the JISC OER project has highlighted at our institution is a need to evaluate the support we provide for staff in IP and copyright matters (especially with regard to using third party materials). This is potentially both for the life of the project and longer-term, and for internal learning and teaching resources as well as OERs.
It would be really helpful if, in a report I'm putting together on this for senior management, I could give an indication of how other UK HEIs are currently providing this support. If you could help me out with a little information on provisions at your institution I would be more than happy to anonymise the results and share with the group next month.
I'd be very interested to know:
1) Do you have dedicated resource to support staff in copyright e.g. copyright officer/administrator?
2) If so, what is the job title, FTE, department/team they work within e.g. library, leaning support?
3) Are they employed specifically for a particular project or is this a permanent institution-wide role?
4) Any other details that you fell might be helpful about the nature/scope of the support provided at your HEI.
Many thanks to all for any help you can give!
