Hello all and good morning
In the dim and distant past when I was a student nurse, I recall a book which was a bit of a bible to me as it contained the "how to ....change a drip giving set, wash a patient, check blood" etc.
I am trying to find if there is anything now which pertains to skills required in OH.
I have written a document on how to check bp, assess hearing with a whisper test (thanks to previous postee)audiometer, assess vision..peripheral, colour etc. and I am struggling to find guidelines to check that my years of practice in this field are still evidence based or good practice.- Ive seen loads of OH nurses use the same systems I use too.
When I started in OH it was see one, do one, teach one from another OH nurse but to be able to put it into a usable document for OH technicians or RGNs who have never been in OH I need a bit more than that.
I have tried "clinical skills online" and to be honest it is aimed at ward nurses such as enema administration and there isnt much call for that in my role at present ...the joys of deskilling!
Google and scholar isnt helping much, neither was my local NHS library- again it was back to drips/patient care!
any offers
Jacqui
