Dear Naksika
I am sorry to hear this, there does seem to a lot of rather thoughtless and
destructive closures taking place, either driven by commissioners or
providers trying to make savings; it seems like your situation these are
being actioned without impact assessment, consultation or recognition of how
this will undermine the services, user outcomes, and policies to eradicate
inequalities. It seems equalities strands of work may be especially in the
firing line, which in itself, one would think would raise concerns about
integrity and legitimacy, not least as its taken so long to establish the
foundations for tackling inequalities.
Good luck with the campaign
b/w

Subject: Cuts to the local NHS
Dear Colleagues
In Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea and Hammermith & Fulham, a new
structure has been proposed across the merged PCTs which as well as cutting
around 70% of all posts, is particularly targeting posts around Community
Engagement, Equality and Diversity and Reducing Health Inequalities.
Community Engagement posts have been completely eliminated, Equality and
Diversity has been added to a post with two other responsibilities and
reducing health inequalities is perhaps submerged under posts with the
general title of 'behaviour change'. No Equality Impact Assessment has been
made with regard to services as it is claimed that there will be no impact
to services besides some change of contact details. This is even though
services such as PALS are being cut from 8 posts to 2.
The BME Health Forum, together with partner BME organisations have put
together a petition against these changes. Please do take a look and
consider signing the petition.
