Specialist collections care – A practical guide to textiles
Do you have responsibility for the care of textiles collections, including
costume and upholstery? Do you need relevant information about how to care
for textile collections? This course will cover important areas such as
identifying different textiles, how to record and understand their
condition, basic environmental monitoring and handling and packing guide
lines. You will also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the
course you and you will come away with a number of practical steps in
textile conservation. In addition, there will be an opportunity to examine
samples and discuss how to make case covers and padded hangers for costume
storage.
Specialist collections care: A practical guide to textiles will give you:
o Knowledge of handling and packing textiles
o An understanding of condition reporting; object assessment; and
safe storage of textiles
o The ability to monitor pest; light exposure and relative humidity
o The ability to label textile objects
