Hi Dave, Hi Wolf,
I would like to advise to always install in versioned directories, e.g. fsl 4.1.7 goes in /opt/fsl-4.1.7-centos5_64, 4.1.6 to /opt/fsl-4.1.6-centos5_64 (and I would also take the name of the archive you downloaded as the name). Then never delete fsl versions you actually used to analyse data (unless you are willing to redo the analysis with the new tools), as this is the only way that guarantees that old analyses can be fully recreated (fsl versions are obviously not bug compatible :)).
And then you select the version you want to use in your .bashrc file...
best
Sebastian

If everything is working fine and you do not need the old version any more, you can just delete the old fsl directory. I assume that is the safest way.

Thanks for any help you can provide me on this issue.
