Julie Freeman and Denis Roche on art/science collaborations chaired by
Janis Jefferies
Julie Freeman’s work explores transforming complex processes into sound
compositions, objects and visualisations. Her work spans visual, audio and
digital art forms and explores the relationship between science, nature
and how humans interact with it. She is currently Artist in Residence at
the Microsystems & Nanotechnology Centre, Cranfield University, and
Associate Researcher at Goldsmiths Digital Studio.

Denis Roche is curating artist of the Open Window Project and Director of
Vivartes. As a composer and artist living and working in Ireland he has
created many visual and sound art installations, most recently "A
Clinically Useful Artwork?" an installation, taking place in an isolation
ward in St.James Hospital, Dublin which was submitted for the degree of
M.A in Fine Art from NCAD.He has made invited presentations at MoMA, The
Smithsonian Institute and the National Naval Medical Centre,Washington on
the Open Window project. He has recently completed an MSc in Cognitive
Computing from Goldsmiths, London where his thesis was on artificial
morality and Machine Ethics.
